ADE7978 is an isolated energy metering chipset for polyphase shunt meters. It is a high accuracy, 3-phase electrical energy measurement IC with serial interfaces and three flexible pulse outputs. This device incorporates all the signal processing required to perform total (fundamental and harmonic) active, reactive, and apparent energy measurement and rms calculations, as well as fundamental-only active and reactive energy measurement and rms calculations. It is approved by UL recognition 5000V rms for 1 minute per UL 1577, CSA Component Acceptance Notice 5A, IEC 61010-1: 300V rms maximum working voltage, VDE certificate of conformity, DIN V VDE V 0884-10 (VDE V 0884-10):2006-12, VIORM = 846V peak. It is used in applications such as shunt-based polyphase meters, power quality monitoring, solar inverters, process monitoring, protective devices, isolated sensor interfaces, industrial PLCs.

- Computes active, reactive, and apparent energy on each phase and on the overall system
- Signal-to-noise ratio is 67dB typical at (TTYP = 25°C)
- Duty cycle is 50% typical at (TTYP = 25°C)
- Operating temperature is -40°C to +85°C
- Package style is 28-lead LFCSP
