The MAX3491EESD+T is a 3.3V powered, ±15KV ESD protected true RS485/RS422 transceiver in 14 pin NSOIC package. This low power transceiver contains one driver and one receiver. The MAX3491E transmits up to 15Mbps and it has enhanced ESD protection. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15KV using IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge, ±8KV using IEC 1000-4-2 contact discharge and ±15KV using human body model. Driver is short circuit current limited and it is protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that provides logic high output if both inputs are open circuit. The MAX3491E is used in EMI sensitive applications, integrated services, digital networks and packet switching.
